Fort Wayne, IN
— The Komets announced Wednesday that two Fort Wayne natives
have agreed to terms and will be on the roster when training
camp gets underway in October for the 2009-10 IHL campaign.
Defenseman
Brandon Warner has been re-signed to his third season with the
Komets. Warner, 26, is coming off an injury-shortened
season appearing in 26 games during 2008-09 scoring seven goals
and 14 points while posting 27 penalty minutes.
"Brandon was off to a great start last season but his year was
cut short because of a lingering hip injury, " Fort Wayne's
general manager David Franke said. "He is 100% now and we
expect a breakout season from Brandon. I know he's excited
to being healthy and re-signing with the Komets."
Warner skated 59 games during 2007-08 with Fort Wayne and
appeared in all 13 post-season games enroute to the 2008 Turner
Cup Championship.
Forward
Kaleigh Schrock has inked an agreement with the Komets for his
pro debut in the upcoming season. Schrock, 24, has skated
with Newmann College in NCAA Division III play the past four
seasons.
"Kaleigh is another product of the Fort Wayne youth hockey
program and we are going to give him a good opportunity to make
the club," Franke said.
Schrock completed 2008-09 as captain of the Knights skating 26
games and scoring four goals and eight points before taking the
2009 Division III Men's Ice hockey NCAA Title in the
post-season.
With the additions of Warner and Schrock, the Komets have three
players signed to the 2009-10 roster. Defenseman Danko
Mironovic was announced last week.
The Komets will open their defense of the IHL Turner
Cup championship when the 58th season of Komet Hockey in Fort Wayne gets
underway in October.
